How to Make Valentine Sugar Cookies
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the brown sugar, softened butter, and eggs in a large bowl, mixing in the vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk the flour and baking powder together in a separate bowl.
  4. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water, stirring until fully combined.
  5. Gradually mix the brown sugar mixture with the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  6. Scoop out 1/3 of the dough and fold it carefully.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface with a rolling pin and cut into shapes.
  8. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cookies are slightly golden around the edges.
  9. Combine the cream cheese, softened butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl to prepare the frosting.
  10. Add powdered sugar gradually until you reach your desired thickness for the frosting.
