  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 pinch salt
For the Cherry-Almond Mixture
  • 1 cup frozen cherries well-drained
  • 1/4 cup sliced raw almonds
For the Sandwich Assembly
  • 10 slices healthy, soft bread your favorite type
  • 1 heart-shaped cookie cutter for cutting the bread

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Mix the cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, almond extract, and salt in a mixing bowl until creamy and smooth.
  2. Add in the chopped cherries and sliced almonds, gently folding them into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
  3. Prepare the frozen cherries by thawing them and then draining any excess liquid.
  4. Cut hearts from the bread using your cookie cutter, aiming for 20 shapes.
  5. Spread the cherry-almond cream cheese mixture generously on one slice of bread, then top it with another slice to create a sandwich.
