How to Make Slow Cooker Spare Ribs
  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, Chinese five spice powder, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, ground ginger, and red food coloring, if desired.
  2. Cut the spare ribs between the bones into manageable pieces. Place them in the slow cooker and pour the marinade over, ensuring they are well coated.
  3. Set the slow cooker to low heat and let it work its magic for about 6 hours.
  4. Once cooked, carefully remove the ribs and place them onto a baking sheet. Combine cornstarch with a few tablespoons of liquid from the slow cooker, then baste this mixture over the ribs.
  5. Broil the ribs in your oven for 5-6 minutes, keeping a close eye on them.
  6. Finally, sprinkle your luscious ribs with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for a touch of crunch and color.
