Method

How to Make Roasted Marinara Sauce
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Spread the quartered Roma tomatoes on a baking sheet. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then season with salt and black pepper.
  3. Roast the tomatoes for 30-35 minutes until golden and slightly charred.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Cook the diced onions for about 5-7 minutes until translucent.
  5. Caramelize the onions by reducing the heat and cooking slowly for approximately 20 minutes.
  6. Add the minced garlic to the pot and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  7. Combine the roasted tomatoes with the caramelized onions. Blend the mixture until smooth.
  8. Stir in the sugar, fresh basil, bay leaves, onion powder, baking soda, and balsamic vinegar into the blended sauce.
  9. Simmer the sauce for 20-30 minutes over low heat, tasting and adjusting seasoning as needed.
