  • 2 cups short-grain rice Provides sticky texture
  • 2.5 cups water For cooking the rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor
For the Filling
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables Carrots, peas, or bell peppers

  • 4 sheets nori Optional for wrapping

Method
 

How to Make Rice Balls
  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a pot. Bring to a boil then cover and reduce heat for 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes. Fluff the rice and sprinkle in salt.
  4. Fold in the chopped vegetables evenly throughout the rice.
  5. Wet your hands slightly and scoop about 2 tablespoons of rice into your palm. Mold it into a ball.
  6. Wrap with nori strips if desired and serve with soy sauce.
