Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter in a mixing bowl until it’s light and fluffy. Add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually mix in ½ cup of powdered sugar followed by 2 cups of all-purpose flour. Mix until just combined.
  4. Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the dough holds together nicely.
  5. Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick on a floured surface. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  6. Chill the cut cookies in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  7. Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes, or until the bottoms are slightly golden.
  8. Cool the cookies completely on a wire rack before icing them.
  9. Mix the icing by combining 1 ½ cups powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of milk. Add food coloring.
  10. Pipe the icing onto the cooled cookies. Sprinkle your choice of sprinkles while the icing is still wet.
  11. Allow the icing to set completely before storing your cookies.
