How to Make Heart Shaped Cherry Cake
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and generously grease an 8 or 9 x 2½-inch heart-shaped cake pan.
- Mix the dry cake mix, eggs, baking powder, vanilla extract, almond extract, and half of the cherry pie filling in a large bowl until just moistened.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing out the top for an even bake.
- Bake for 65-75 minutes for a heart-shaped pan, or 40-45 minutes for a 9x13 pan, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake completely in the pan on a wire rack before transferring it to a serving platter.
- Blend together softened butter, vanilla extract, and almond extract in a medium bowl. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk for frosting consistency.
- Frost your cooled cake with the creamy frosting, generously spreading it over the top and sides.
- Decorate the cake with mini chocolate chips or colorful sprinkles.
- Pipe whimsical designs with any remaining frosting.

Notes
For best results, do not overmix the batter and ensure your baking powder is fresh.
