  5. Cool the cake completely in the pan on a wire rack before transferring to a serving platter.
  6. Blend together softened butter, vanilla extract, and almond extract in a medium bowl. Gradually add powdered sugar and incorporate milk until desired consistency.
  7. Frost your cooled cake with the creamy frosting, reserving some cherry pie filling for garnish.
  8. Decorate with mini chocolate chips or colorful sprinkles.
