How to Make Easy Mushroom Gravy
  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat and wait until frothy before adding mushrooms. Cook for 3–4 minutes until browned.
  2. Stir in finely chopped onion (or shallots) and minced garlic. Cook for another 5–6 minutes until softened.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Slowly pour in the vegetable broth, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle simmer for 4–5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Mix in heavy cream and thyme, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add fresh parsley if desired. Adjust consistency with broth or water if needed.
  7. Serve warm over mashed potatoes, pasta, or roasted vegetables.
