Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, ensuring it’s smooth.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet, covering the entire surface.
- Combine butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture is bubbling and has a glossy, caramel-like texture, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the arranged crackers, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 6 minutes.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let them soften for about 3-4 minutes.
- Spread the melting chocolate evenly over the toffee.
- Top with your choice of chopped pecans, walnuts, or colorful M&M's.
