- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil.
- Arrange 25-30 Saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Melt ½ cup butter and ½ cup packed brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil for 4-5 minutes.
- Pour the caramel over the arranged crackers, spreading it evenly. Bake for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let sit for a few minutes to soften, then spread it gently.
- Brown 1 cup butter in a skillet until it has a nutty aroma, then let it cool.
- Mix brown sugar and ½ cup granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until smooth.
- Combine 2 & ⅓ cups flour, ¾ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt in a bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Fold in the prepared Christmas Crack layer and freeze for 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for about 13 minutes. Cool for 20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
