Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup Sugar provides sweetness
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup Milk or almond/soy milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract opt for pure vanilla
  • 1 large Egg or a flax egg
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour can substitute whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder use quality cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder for rising
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda for leavening
Frosting
  • 1 cup Pink frosting store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup Sprinkles in any color or shape

Method
 

Making the Cookies
  1. Cream together the sugar and softened unsalted butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Combine the milk, vanilla extract, and large egg into the creamed mixture and mix until well-blended.
  3. Sift and mix the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda) in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the dough is chilling.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thickness and cut out cookies using a heart-shaped cutter.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-10 minutes and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Frost cooled cookies with pink frosting and sprinkle colorful toppings.
