Making the Cookies
- Cream together the sugar and unsalted butter in a bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the milk, vanilla extract, and large egg until everything is well blended.
- Sift and combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda in another bowl. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while preparing your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and cut out heart shapes.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-10 minutes until they’re firm but slightly soft in the center.
- Frost each cooled cookie generously with pink frosting and sprinkle on your choice of decorative sprinkles.
