Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter or vegan butter
  • 1/4 cup milk or almond/soy milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract preferably pure
  • 1 large egg or flax egg as a substitute
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder good quality
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Frosting
  • 1 cup pink frosting store-bought or homemade
  • sprinkles any colors/shapes for decoration

Method
 

Making the Cookies
  1. Cream together the sugar and unsalted butter in a bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Mix in the milk, vanilla extract, and large egg until everything is well blended.
  3. Sift and combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda in another bowl. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  4. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while preparing your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and cut out heart shapes.
  7. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-10 minutes until they’re firm but slightly soft in the center.
  8. Frost each cooled cookie generously with pink frosting and sprinkle on your choice of decorative sprinkles.
