Method
 

Making Chocolate Coconut Balls
  1. In a large mixing bowl, blend desiccated coconut, powdered sugar, and sweetened condensed milk until fully mixed.
  2. Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a wax paper-lined baking sheet.
  3. Chill the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up the mixture.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and shortening; heat until smooth.
  5. Dip each chilled coconut ball into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Let the chocolate harden at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
