Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a mixing bowl, then stir in brown sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine flour, oats, baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into the buttery mixture, stirring until a thick dough forms.
- Press half of the dough into the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- Melt caramel candies and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the baked crust, pour melted caramel on top, and crumble remaining dough over it.
- Bake for an additional 15-18 minutes until edges are browned and center is bubbly.
- Cool completely for at least 4 hours, then lift from the pan and slice into squares.
