Method
 

Preparation
  1. Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl. Mix in the cold Crisco or butter until it resembles coarse meal.
  2. Create a well in the mixture and add cold water. Gently mix to combine and chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out one disc of the dough on a floured surface to form the base of the pie and place it in your pie plate.
  4. Prepare the lattice topping by rolling out the second disc of dough and cutting it into strips.
Filling
  1. Mix the blackberries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  2. Pour the filling into your pie crust. Arrange the lattice strips over the filling.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Brush the lattice top with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
  5. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Allow the pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
