How to Make Banana Bread
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash the overripe bananas until mostly smooth.
- Add melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to mashed bananas and whisk until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the banana mixture until just combined.
- If using, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
